Developments in Health Care Debate

With all the different approaches in tackling health care reform, President Obama takes another route and this time involving the public. Obviously, the private discussions between the House of Representatives and the Senate did not resolve anything. So for a change, last February 25, the half-day-long discussion on healthcare was televised live on C-SPAN. Also this time, Republicans were included in the negotiations.

Admittedly, most Republicans in Congress had publicly announced that they had no intention of voting for the medical insurance changes no matter what. Therefore, in hopes to prove that he will not be biased with this matter, the President encouraged the Republicans to step up and provide their own health insurance solutions or proposals. Nonetheless, the Democrats are already convinced that opposing their policies will no longer work with the public as this will be a big risk for this fall’s midterm elections.

For now, let’s wait and see if this new strategy will work out fine or will just be another round of word war.
