Health Care Reform Disputes Move to Supreme Court

The debates have been pushed through various circuit courts around the country over the past year, but the fight may reach its final destination in a few short weeks if filings are approved in time.
States Continue Fight to Repeal Health Care Law
Ever since thehealth care reform bill, named the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was signed on March 23, 2010, various states pushed to have part of reform deemed unconstitutional.

Eating Disorders a New Front in Insurance Fight

Through claims and court cases, those with severe cases of anorexia or bulimia are fighting insurers to pay for stays in residential treatment centers, arguing that the centers offer around-the-clock monitoring so that patients do not forgo eating or purge their meals.
But in the last few years, some insurance companies have re-emphasized that they do not cover residential treatment for eating disorders or other mental or emotional conditions. Read more…

State Farm Florida Will Not Renew 10,000 Homeowners Policies

State Farm Reduces Business
State Farm Florida Insurance Co. said that it plans to stop writing commercial insurance for churches, apartments and contractors in the state, as well as not renew 10,000 homeowners policies, in its effort to reduce the size of its business.
Its main goal has been to exit a variety of commercial lines, but in its effort to downsize, has chosen to eliminate some of its home insurance policies as well.
Overall, the company says its main interest is serving the homeowners market in the state.
