Study Finds IT Budgets to Remain Strong for Insurers

The Riding the Wave: Insurer Technology Spending, Drivers, and Approaches survey conducted by LOMA and Strategy Meets Action found that 90 percent of life insurance companies plan to spend the same, if not more, on IT next year.
LOMA senior vice president Jeff Hasty says it’s important to have strong IT in order for a company to thrive.
“The study is consistent with what we are hearing from our members,” says Hasty.

Lack of Sleep Causes Motor Vehicle Accidents

A number of tired motorists get behind the wheel every day. In fact, the Sleep Foundation says nearly 40 percent of poll respondents admitted to falling asleep while driving. Another study by a major car insurance company found almost 20 percent of fatal accidents involved a drowsy motorist.
A representative from the insurance company, Kathleen Marvaso, says many people don’t realize the devastating consequences under-sleeping can have.
“This data underscores the importance of educating drivers on the simple, yet effective steps they can take to prevent a possible tragedy,” says Marvaso.
